8:00am to 4:30pm

Mendham & Withersdale Horticultural & Produce Association stages shows in spring and autumn each year. Entries are kept at a very local level giving friendly competition between neighbours.
Independent judges maintain RHS standards and there is plenty of silverware to be won.
In spring the emphasis is on bulbs and in autumn on garden produce but there are also cookery, floral art and craft classes. We always welcome children's entries and they are divided into under 9 years and 9 to 14 years. (Children's entries are free).
Schedules for the show are distributed with Sixth Sense in Mendham, Withersdale and Metfield a few weeks before the show and are also available in Metfield shop. These list the classes and lay out the rules.
On the day, exhibitors set up between 8.00 and 11.00 in the morning. Judging then takes place and at 2.30pm everyone is invited back in to have their own look at the exhibits and enjoy home made teas while the numbers are crunched ready for the prize giving at 4.00pm. Many of the exhibits are then offered in an auction which can turn into quite a battle for that prizewinning cake!
The shows have been part of the pattern of village life for many years, hopefully enjoyed by everyone who comes along. They remain financially viable thanks to sponsorship of classes by individuals and the advertising placed in the schedules by local businesses.
