Pub vs Parish Cricket Match - 2017

The 6th Annual Pub v Parish cricket match took place at the Withersdale playing field on Sunday 6th August.

Parish team captain, Mitchell Tompkins, led his team out to bat first. With 20 overs played, the parish team finished with 124 runs from 20 overs, with notable performances from Will Wright, Sammy Fell, Mitchell Tompkins and 12 year old Leighton Tompkins.

Sir Alfred Munnings Public House landlord and team captain, Mark Shortt, had rallied together an enthusiastic team and they put on a strong performance with Simon, Keith and Rich getting 18, 17 and 16 runs each respectively. The Pub team finished with 65 runs after 20 overs.

This was, as always, a great occasion when the villagers turn out to watch a fun cricket match where the emphasis is on taking part what ever the level of skill and ability. Every year there are funny moments to talk about after the match. Following the match, all participants and all spectators were invited to enjoy afternoon tea in the hall.

A special thank you to everyone who helped with the delicious tea and to Barry Cable who was the scorer for the match.
